I had a really weird moment today when I was trying to figure out what to wear to a wedding I'm going to as my BM's guest. I narrowed down the choices and had a couple things to choose from in the morning. In the afternoon, when my BM arrived, he asked if I'd made a choice, so I held up a shirt and skirt I was leaning towards. He said "That's great! I like that shirt." That's probably one of the first times I've ever had a guy's input about my clothes, other than the offhand "that's nice/cute/hot" remark. It made me really happy to actually have a guy care about something that mundane.
I also discovered that I need to do some revamping of my closet wardrobe. My problem lies in the fact that I have changed so much in the past six years or so since high school that nothing really meshes well together, fits my current body type, or suits any occasion other than casual (shorts/jeans and solid color top/tank top or T-shirt) or night on the town (cleavage and LBDs). So to make a good impression at the wedding of some people I've never met before, my options seemed particularly grim.
I also found out that some of my favorite staples just don't fit anymore. Pretty much anything I picked up in college or late high school is too big these days (Try fitting into a size 10 when you're now in 6es), or it's cut so awkwardly that I wouldn't dare wear it out in public. It's times like these that I regret getting the larger size because it had a little more room or (more likely) because the store didn't have an 8 and the 10 was good enough not to pass up. I'm going over some tailoring options in my head so I don't have to totally redo my wardrobe, but the prospects are certainly dim until I make some alterations. Thank heavens I sew!
Back to my BM. I've got to say that I think we're on more solid footing than ever after having some good old-fashioned drunk-talk discussions. We emptied as much beer as we could from the two party-kegs (there was probably a gallon or two of beer left in each when we turned them in) and then set to drinking a couple pitchers while watching Vantage Point (I recommend everybody see it!). I was surprised that I wasn't the only one with a busted-ankle-while-playing-sports-with-college-clubs story, although the fact that I was carried off the field still trumps all the other stories. Good times.
And then Jess is going to graduate this weekend. I can't wait to be down there to celebrate! Word on the street is that there's going to be some dancing tonight and probably barbeque sometime inbetween. Oh yeah. And more dancing Saturday night at this wedding I'm going to. Here's hoping all goes well this weekend.
Oh. And I got myself a Flickr for some of my favorite pictures that are already plastered all over Facebook. Surprise, suprise, it's www.flickr.com/randomkar . I'm really clever sometimes....

I like your BM. Did I ever tell you that? Also, you can pass your size 10's over to me. I think I might have the cleavage now to give your clothes some justice... (Not that I expect you to ever let go of them.) Or better yet- take the rejects to Buffalo Exchange and get some money.
miss you,
Mars
