Another night...

Okay, so the whole "meeting-the-parents" thing didn't happen. Although my brother and sister-in-law did say they stayed longer at my folks' house so they could meet my BM, they were also disappointed. But my BM is not to blame - his family came up to town to help him move out of his old apartment. It was pre-planned and I just picked the wrong weekend. Not a big deal. Another time, I'm sure.

What did happen this weekend is a haircut. I went down to CS to visit a great friend of mine, who took me out shopping and dining and helped me get 15 inches or so chopped off. Now my hair is about mid-neck length. Part of the plan is to take a discreet section and bleach it and dye it blue. We didn't do that last weekend because we are taking our time, and I didn't want my visiting to be all about the hair. Had the bleaching AND the cut been done on the same weekend, it really would have been the primary focus of the visit, which would have been silly. The hair is just a side thing, really.

Fireworks are also (hopefully) happening tomorrow. There's a burn-ban on, which means we probably won't go for roman candles or artillery shells, but probably just the small on-the-ground explosives. In any case, there'll be swimming and drinking and much fun. Stupid lack of rain.

The visit with my parents did also produce an interesting perspective on the whole "mouse-in-the-yard" situation. They said it likely wasn't thrown out by a random neighbor, but more likely one of the neighbors has decided that putting out poison is the best way to solve their mouse problem. So the mouse with it's gasping-for-air-wide-open-jaws pose was more likely poisoned and just happened to die in my lawn. Good to know, but bad to know that I have to worry about mice.

Otherwise, not a whole lot going on. Things seem to be going very well with BM and I and I think I'm starting to get rid of some of my emotional-shell on his behalf. It's always a good sign when you start letting yourself feel things again.
