Houses

I like this comic, for obvious reasons.

So here's the scoop: I have found a place. We have come to an agreement that both parties seem to favor, and now all that's left is the official signing of the contract. Which should happen this evening, if I'm lucky. So there you have it - I'm really going to be a homeowner. In M.'s terms, because I'll be north of 183, I'll be living in Canada. (*grins*) (*considers the name "Canada" for the new digs*)

Sometimes I think that things happen a little too coincidentally. It seems on this property, the secret of its being available nearly 75 days is that (so says the seller's agent) no less than three other people have submitted offers. Firm, solid, getting to contract offers. But their financing has been declined each time. Now I don't know if it has to do with credit, or if it had anything to do with the possibility that perhaps the actual appraised value didn't match the offer price. According to the Travis County CAD, the house is tax-appraised for about $169,000. So I guess maybe if someone had offered $180,000 and the discrepancy was too big, maybe that would be the cause for declining. I'd hate to think that there are that many people in this world that are so unrealistic about what they can afford.

Although that's probably not an underestimation. Sadly.

I went to a Blue October concert last night with my great and fantastich B-Bel. It was his birthday, and although the concert tickets were free, I helped add a little something special by going and chilling in line about four hours before doors opened [he joined me 2.5 hrs later]. We got front row, in front of Ryan (quelle suprise) and got a setlist (ditto). Except that it came down from a roadie, but only after B-Bel convinced him not to throw it out into the crowd because it was his birthday. I was only minutely sad that I didn't get any "special attention" at this show. But eh? It ROCKED, mostly because they played old songs like "Libby" and "Holler" and "Italian Radio".

B-Bel is sleeping right now, but whenever he wakes up we are going out for breakfast! Wheeee! I enjoy showing off Austin.

And, as a disclaimer, with this new house comes an impeding large house-warming party. Very likely to be in July, very likely to have "spiked" punch, and also very likely to include the wrath of my neighbors. No fire, though - it's illegal in town. And regrettably, though there is a guest bathroom, there are no downstairs bathtubs to fill with ice and drinks. Hopefully it can become a stopover point for folks that are visiting us or Austin - there's going to be so much room, it'd be a crime not to share! Hooray company!

Canadia looks too much like Candida. That freaks me out.
