The state of things in the last 24 hours:
My bank account has been reduced from $787.97 to $4.25.
I've been rained on by something yellow and smelling of urine.
It's only two things, but it's a profoundly day-fucking-up series of two events. How did it happen?
The second bit comes from working in a basement at Brackenridge that happens to be located underneath the cafeteria. I was minding my own business working on an elution for my blood bank training when I noticed this dripping occurring beside me. In a few short seconds, that dripping from the ceiling turned from a clear water-esque liquid annoyance to a urine-colored(and smelling) torrent. I don't know what it was, I don't know where it came from, but I know that it was disgusting. Usually the lab brushes it off as a "leaky pipe", because further resolution is usually never given. For about five minutes it rained, then drizzled, then stopped altogether. Luckily I was wearing a lab coat and got to leave work half an hour later. Maintenence didn't bother to come down, either.
The first bit comes from attempting to reserve excursions on the cruise I'm going on with my friends from ASH. C-ASH did the actual booking, and somehow it ended up charging me for ALL THREE of our excursions. At a whopping $194 a pop, this did some tremendous damage to my checking account. Like a moron, I used my checking account instead of a credit card. I guess that'll show me.
But not only were the customer service people unhelpful, they were also unfriendly. I tried to call and get resolution, only to be told by someone in a very miffed tone "We can't do anything because we didn't book the excursion." From this statement it is reasonable to infer that they could have booked the excursion, right? WRONG. Turns out the only option we have is the bullshit internet. Or waiting until we're actually on the ship, at which point all the good excursions will be gone. I've since managed to get all C-ASH, J-ASH, and I all booked correctly (I think), but it's a damn hassle. And I still haven't seen a dime of the nearly $400 that Royal Caribbean owes me.
I've decided that I'm going to try and be clever with peoples' names without actually using them. I know too many C's and J's to just go by single initials, so I'm going to try either outright nicknames (like Mleh) or an inital and "hometown" (ala -SAN (San Antonio) or -BLV(Bellville)) or place I know them from (ala -ASH (Austin State Hospital) or -DCC (Dell)).
